Aloha Liliʻu: Celebrating Our Queen

Aloha Liliʻu: Celebrating Our Queen

On Saturday November 11th, ʻŌiwi TV took part in celebrating the life of one of our most prolific aliʻi, Liliʻuokalani. Hundreds from around Hawaiʻi came together to observe the centennial anniversary of her passing, which was marked by the ringing of over 100 church bells statewide, the drumming of pahu, and the resonating sounds of pū, oli, and hula. Kanaka leaders, renowned musicians, esteemed hālau, and distinguished members of the Hawaiian community gathered at the Hawaiʻi State Capitol to commemorate Liliʻuʻs many contributions to our lāhui.

ʻŌiwi TV reaches across generations, socio-economic statuses, and geographic locations as the sole media venue where the Hawaiian language, culture and perspective thrive.
