Mele Ma Ka Lihiwai | Episode 1: Lehua Kalima

Episode 1: Lehua Kalima

ʻŌiwi TV’s original music series “Mele ma ka Lihiwai” presents its first episode of ten, featuring Hilo girl herself, Lehua Kalima. Sharing with us some of her original compositions, Lehua shares with us how each song was inspired from her keiki, other loved ones, and just the emotion of love itself. This aloha is evident in the lyrics and melodies heard in Kialoa’s Song, Lei ʻAwapuhi, and Rising in Love to name a few. Accompanying her on guitar was none other than her good hoa, Shawn Pimental, a talented and well-known producer in Hawaiʻi. Throughout the episode, other hoa, or friends, Billy V and Mele Apana jump in to help tell the stories behind each of the mele. Enjoy this first episode, and those of many other talented artists of Hawaiʻi each week thereafter. Watch “Mele ma ka Lihiwai” on Oceanic Digital Channel 326 as well.
