Hilo, Hawaiʻi

ʻŌiwi TV, Puakea Nogelmeier and Kaui Sai-Duduoit held two “typing parties” this week in Hilo to raise awareness about their project, ʻIke Kūʻokoʻa. This grassroots effort is reviving Hawaiian knowledge and history through digital technology. They are looking for more supporters to type out pages of Hawaiian language newspapers for the indexable (searchable) database. This database is a priceless asset of Hawaiian knowledge for future generations.
