Nā Momi Ho‘oheno was created to capture the treasured life stories of our Hawaiian people so that future generations might be enriched by these priceless mo‘olelo of our cherished and unique way of life.

Helen “Lady” Solomon Kamanā was born in Kohala in 1908.  A native speaker of Hawaiian and Spanish, she is a passionate advocate for Hawaiian language and cultural revitalization.  Tutu Helen’s childhood memories are rich with rare first-hand accounts of early 20th century plantation life.
