Kaho’olawe Aloha ‘Āina-George Helm

SCROLl TO DISCOVER

Produced by the Protect Kahoʻolawe ʻOhana
Edited by Ken Yasso, Joan Lander

Produced in 1977, this video documents the early days of the Protect Kaho’olawe ‘Ohana and the speeches and performances of George Helm, one of the founders of the organization.

Because of the nature of early small-format video equipment, this program has many technical errors. However the sound of George Helm’s words and music comes through powerfully.

Included in the program are scenes of the first landings on the island of Kaho’olawe by those attempting to reclaim it from the U.S. military.

Produced and directed by Puhipau and Joan Lander of Nā Maka o ka ʻĀina
