Across the United States, thousands of activists who identify themselves as the 99% have camped out to protest many of the societal ills facing the nation. As the worldʻs attention focused on Hawaiʻi for the APEC summit, demonstrators gathered in Thomas Square for Occupy Honolulu. Signs indicate the wide range of issues which the group objects to, including capitalism, corporate greed, and colonization among others. While this community may be smaller in size than their mainland counterparts, they are no less determined to have their voices heard and change achieved.
