Waiʻaleʻale Sarsona is a native Hawaiian woman born and raised in Waimānalo. She is a Hawaiian Immersion Charter School parent and past director of Ke Kula ʻo Samuel M. Kamakau, public charter school. Currently she serves as the director of the Kamehameha Schools Hoʻolako Like Department which supports Hawaiian-focused charter schools across the state, educating thousands of students. Her commitment to Hawaiian-focused education stems from the belief that our culture is the foundation from which we learn.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
