SCROLl TO DISCOVER

After voyaging more than 27,000 nautical miles, Hawaiʻiʻs iconic oceangoing canoe Hōkūleʻa arrives in the New York City, carrying the message of Mālama Honua – Caring for Island Earth. Amidst the towering skyscrapers of the Manhattan skyline, drums, oli, and hula rang throughout as Hōkūleʻa and her crew were welcomed by a mixture of Native American and Hawaiian ceremony and protocol. The Worldwide Voyage then traveled to the United Nations to celebrate World Oceans Day, fulfilling a promise made to Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to rally nations and peoples to protect our precious marine ecosystems.
