Hoʻoulu Pāhiahi students from Ke Kula ʻO Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu explore the choices they face as young people in today’s complex world. Via original scripts written and performed by the students, a glimpse into decisions to bully, lie, steal, and disrespect elders is looked at from different angles, dealt with, and resolved, leading to deep learning for all involved. Each scene opens with a group slam poem – a poignant spoken-word piece – which is designed to serve as a preclude, introducing the audience to the overarching theme of the performance.
