2019 Mokuola Honua Symposium: Our Indigenous Languages in Education

The 2019 Mokuola Honua Symposium focused on discussions and formulating strategies of language revitalization and normalization efforts through 4 thematic strands of society; Education, Policy and Government, Media and Business. On Wednesday, November 20th 2019, a series of presenters shared some of their unique language efforts in these specific language domains.

Dr. Dafydd Trystan Davies presented on Welsh language education strategies and progress. Dr. Dafydd Trystan (PhD) is the registrar of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol – the National Welsh College. He has led the Coleg’s work in academic planning since 2011, and was the author of the Coleg’s first academic plan. Since 2016, he is responsible for a new element to the Coleg’s activities, namely the development of Welsh and bilingual provision in the further education and apprenticeship sectors.
