Polynesian
Voyaging Society

Polynesian Voyaging Society is the home of Hokule’a and the Malama Honua Worldwide Voyage. Founded on a legacy of Pacific Ocean exploration, the Polynesian Voyaging Society seeks to perpetuate the art and science of traditional Polynesian voyaging and the spirit of exploration through experiential educational programs that inspire students and their communities to respect and care for themselves, each other, and their natural and cultural environments.

ʻAha Pūnana Leo

ʻAha Pūnana Leo is the Hawaiian language immersion program in Hawaiʻi. A non-profit organization dedicated to serving the Hawaiian language community. Organizes the Pūnana Leo Hawaiian language immersion preschools in Hawaiʻi. The Pūnana Leo language nest provides a cultural educational environment that emulates Mauli Ola Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language and Culture). Currently, the program consists of 11 Pūnana Leo preschools, one Hiʻi Pēpē infant-toddler program, and a family learning enrichment program.

Polynesian Kamehameha Schools

Kamehameha Schools is the education legacy of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop. The mission of Kamehameha Schools is to improve the capability and well-being of Hawaiians through education. We achieve our mission by operating an educational system serving over 6,900 students of Hawaiian ancestry at K-12 campuses on O‘ahu, Maui and Hawai‘i island, and at 31 preschool sites statewide.

Office of Hawaiian Affairs

Under the direction of nine trustees elected statewide, OHA has functioned operationally as both a government agency with a strong degree of autonomy, and as a trust. Unlike the Bishop Estate, the Queen Emma Foundation, the Queen Lili’uokalani Trust, the Lunalilo Trust and the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands — with their specific, respective purposes of education, medical care, children’s welfare, kūpuna care and homesteading — OHA has a much broader mandate. Its purpose is to provide the opportunity for a better life and future for all Hawaiians. To mālama (protect) Hawai’i’s people and environmental resources and OHA’s assets, toward ensuring the perpetuation of the culture, the enhancement of lifestyle and the protection of entitlements of Native Hawaiians, while enabling the building of a strong and healthy Hawaiian people and nation, recognized nationally and internationally.

NA KA HAWAIʻI
NO KA HAWAIʻI

Our vision is to reestablish the Native Hawaiian worldview to a place of authority in Hawaiians, Hawaiʻi and the rest of the world.
