He Huakaʻi Makaʻikaʻi

He Huakaʻi Makaʻikaʻi

Produced by Nā Maka o ka ʻĀina

Rachel Nahaleʻelua Mahuiki, one of Hanaleiʻs most beloved kupuna, leads Larry Kimura and a group of Hawaiian language teachers on a tour of Haʻena, Kauaʻi.

The trip includes visits to the wet and dry caves, the famous peak, Makana, and a walk on the reef where Rachel shows how to gather and eat seafood such as loli, wana, he’e and limu.

The program is a lively portrait of a vivacious woman who shares her experiences and, in the process, teaches Hawaiian values.

In Hawaiian language; no English subtitles.

Produced in association with ‘Aha Pūnana Leo.
