Mele Murals – Kalakaua Middle School

Mele Murals completed their final mural of 2017 with David Kalākaua Middle School. This was the biggest Mele Mural project to date, facilitating about 1,000 haumāna (students) to paint the mural project in unison.
The main message conveyed in the 200,000 square foot mural is that it is everyone’s kuleana (responsibility) to do their part by taking care of the land and to perpetuate the stories of the past that are rooted in Kalihi.
