From November 14-20, 2011, restaurants throughout Hawaiʻi will offer special menus as part of Restaurant Week with the goal of promoting the Culinary Institute of the Pacific. The proposed college program would allow students interested in a career in the culinary industry the opportunity to remain in Hawaiʻi instead of traveling to the mainland to complete their training. ʻŌiwiTV stopped by Diamond Head Market & Grill in Kapahulu to see how this island favorite supports eating local. Some of Hawaiʻi’s most well-known eating establishments are participating in Restaurant Week including Alan Wong’s Honolulu, Ka Ikena Restaurant, Nobu Waikiki, SALT kitchen & tasting bar, and TOWN.

For a complete listing of menus, visit the Restaurant Week Hawaiʻi website.

Visit the Culinary Institute of the Pacific website for more information about the program at Kapiʻolani Community College.

ʻŌiwi TV reaches across generations, socio-economic statuses, and geographic locations as the sole media venue where the Hawaiian language, culture and perspective thrive. Through Digital Channel 326, ʻŌiwi TV reaches over 220,000 households across the entire State via Oceanic Time Warner Cable’s network. Through its website, mobile, and social media venues, ʻŌiwi TV is reaching Hawaiians everywhere and engaging a generation of Hawaiians that expect to access anything and everything from anywhere at anytime.
