Welcome to the third episode of Ka Leo ʻŌiwi, the newest Hawaiian language learning series. Join again with Hina, Pōmaikaʻi, and ʻIwalani as they practice ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, go on a huakaʻi, and kanikapila with some of our favorite musicians! As you continue these lessons, youʻll start to notice how our ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi is all around us.
This third episode includes an overview of what was learned in our previous episodes as well as an introduction to the Pepeke Painu while using the Kāhulu (descriptive words). In this episode, we learn that our Hawaiian language has a lot in common with our Pidgin language. We’ll also meet up Larry Kimura and learn how other cultures have impacted the Hawaiian language and culture while preparing food. Finally, we meet up with our musical guest to enjoy some Hawaiian music!

Ka Leo ʻŌiwi provides a foundation in the Hawaiian language through engagement, interaction, and making the learner a part of the lesson through lohe (hear), ʻoni (act), and walaʻau (speak).
