Hakipuʻu Learning Center is holding its annual Thanksgiving imu turkey fundraiser to raise supplemental funds to continue its mission of educating youth from Windward Oʻahu. The public charter school, located near the entrance of the Windward Community College campus, employs a project-based instructional model to engage student motivation and learning. Like many of Hawaiʻi’s charter schools, Hakipu’u faces the ongoing issue of securing long-term facilities as seen with the group’s eviction from its previous building. Fortunately, student success has not been comprised since learning is not confined to the classroom. The annual imu fundraiser has proven popular with Windward residents and brings together the entire Hakipuʻu ʻOhana to achieve a common goal.

For more information about how to purchase a ticket to put a turkey into the imu, call Hakipuʻu Learning Center at 235-9155.
