Hoʻoulu Ka ʻUlu Festival 2011 #breadfruitfestival #sustainability

Produced, Photographed, and Edited by Kainoa Rudolfo

Sponsored by the Hawaiʻi Homegrown Food Network and the Breadfruit Institute, the first annual Hoʻoulu Ka ʻUlu Festival aimed to raise awareness of this Polynesian food staple. Participants were treated to demonstrations showing the versatility of ʻulu in many types of cuisines. Though it has been a widespread crop across the Pacific, ʻulu may have uses in meeting food demands both locally and globally.
